Motorcycle Custom Painting With Candy

Motorcycle Custom Painting is done with many varieties of styles, colors and materials. Red and yellow flames painted down the side of a ‘55 Chevy can easily be visualized in most peoples minds. The bright colors standing out like a neon sign. Very nice in the right circumstance and still is for those of us who like the “retro” look.

A style that is a popular way of motorcycle flames being painted is by putting down your design, then coating it with a transparent color. To have an idea of paint like this is to paint the whole tank silver,  then do the Regular Flames, Ghost flames or Tribal in gold. You can then outline the flames in a lighter or darker shade of silver or gold. Then you use the transparent “candy” color and lay down several coats over the whole painted area.

You then end up with a tank and fenders that are entirely red, blue or which ever color you have decided on. The effect is much more subtle, solid color but you can see through it to the design . You can have the design easily visible or you can spray the “candy” heavier and you can barely see the design unless it’s in the sun or bright light. Much more toned down than the normal candy flames style of Motorcycle Custom Painting.

Having your Motorcycle Custom Painting done in the “retro” style or in a modern “candy coated” style is clearly a decision of individual preference.
